4 Ways Supply Teachers Can Use ChatGPT To Enhance Teaching

SupplyWell explores how supply teachers can use ChatGPT as an aid to make covering classes easier. From generating lesson plans, creating worksheets and answering tricky questions.

ChatGPT is on the radar of many educators at the moment, and it is polarising teachers around the world. Some love it and some hate it. If you want to give it a go and decide for yourself, we’ve got some ideas on how supply teachers could use ChatGPT to enhance their teaching.

So, what is ChatGPT?

It is an AI chat bot that engages in a conversational way, it is able to answer followup questions, admit its mistakes, challenge incorrect premises, and reject inappropriate requests. You can read more about the technical side and access the chat bot by visiting the website here.

1. Generating lesson plans

You can take some of the pressure out of preparation by using ChatGPT to quickly generate lesson plans for the classes they will be teaching. The AI can be prompted with the class subject and grade level, and it will provide a comprehensive lesson plan that is aligned with the curriculum.

2. You can create worksheets and quizzes

The new tool will help remove the stress and pressure out of creating resources because ChatGPT can be used to generate worksheets and quizzes that align with the lesson plans it generates. Too good to be true right?! This can save supply teachers a lot of time and effort. Try it and let us know what you think. 3. Answering tricky questions

Supply teachers can use ChatGPT to answer student questions, if they are tricky. Teachers can even ask ChatGPT to explain something in a simpler way appropriate for their age. The conversational nature of the AI is particularly useful. For instance, if a student is having a hard time understanding a concept, ChatGPT can provide a simple, easy to understand explanation.

4.Incorporate it in the classroom

You could use ChatGPT to create interactive learning activities for the students. It can generate trivia questions, crossword puzzles and more games to help stimulate students and make your lessons fun.

SupplyWell do want to note that ChatGPT should be used as a tool to assist you in creating activities and materials rather than relying on it because it does have limitations in it’s knowledge base. What do you think of the AI software? Do you think it’s here to stay? Let us know what you think.
